Christmas is here!

Christmas is here! By that, I mean it is finally here to celebrate with our young ones! Before we had children most of us have become a bit jaded in the whole Christmas holiday process, dragging our feet to the finish line to the New Year. It all seems to change once we have our first child. We want to show them all the wonderful, glittering and fantastical things out there that we had celebrated as kids. Our inner child has been awakened, we have stars in our eyes again!

Mini Christmas celebration

In this scene I really wanted to generate a feeling of glowing warmth, yet keep its simplicity, which I come to realise is very difficult! You can get horribly excited with decorations and go completely overboard! It all came together in the end though with a beautiful glowing warmth to my scene, and I managed to capture a wonderful moment with my own son.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Love from,

Redesigned cake smash on short notice

I was all set and ready to go with my clients colour selection for their daughter’s cake smash coming up this week, when they had a change of heart on the colours they wanted to use for the shoot. This theme is based on their chosen cake which will be a giant cupcake with rich pink frosting, decorated with a turquoise number one.

I always want my clients to love the end results, so of course I said I would try my best to accommodate their new choices. This is what I managed to come up with a little haphazardly, but I still love the outcome!
Custmised Tutu and Garland

So… for the past four days I have been scrambling around to make the adjustments, set up and test before the day of the shoot. I managed to find a turquoise tutu on ebay last week and a lovely bundle of fabric. Ebay have amazing choices when it comes to fabric bundles!  I cut the fabric into strips added a few to the tutu, and made a colourful tasseled garland.

Additionally, I went to the local habdab in Haslemere to find some more tutu fabric and ribbons (I needed a lot more pink), this is where I came upon the wooden beads and the idea formed to make a beaded necklace.

Customised Tutu

This necklace would tie in nicely with the garland and tutu. I used one of the strips to wrap around to beads. As you can see the stitching is a bit meh… I realised once I had finished with the beading that it was a little harsh so I used some of the flowery fabric to soften the look, hence the stuffed butterfly!

I must profess to not being the best with a needle and thread, but I did put my heart into making that butterfly. I think that necklace took me the whole day to make!

A walk in the park

Muddy Puddles!

I absolutely love, love, LOVE taking my baby’s photos! What better way than a walk in the park ? Alas, he is not the easiest of subjects to shoot, he is a wriggly little worm. He is always running about rampant and constantly on his own missions (I would love to know what he is thinking when he gets that look of sheer determination on his face to take, not any old stick lying around, but that one specific stick he wants, and lob it about).

This image was taken by sheer luck, and of course as mummy, I fell in love with this one! This was taken in Radford Park, Liphook in March while it was still very nippy in my opinion. Frosty fingers and runny noses attested to that.

Below are a few more images that I fell in love with, they have (I feel) a certain romanticism to them. What it does’t thankfully capture is the snotty nose, temper tantrums, numerous falling over and crying spells!
